Afforestation aims to change land use from non-forest to forest land in a way that ensures the long-term sustainability and productivity of new forests, as well as rapid carbon sequestration and high quality timber.

Description of the action

When reforesting, use the tree species best suited to the soil (site type).

Why?

The right tree species for the soil will ensure forest productivity and high quality timber that can be used in the future to produce durable products that store carbon for long periods.
