Use biological protection to avoid forest damage

Biological techniques and tools should be preferred to prevent forest damage and to control its spread. The use of non-biological plant protection products on forest land is only allowed in justified cases.

Description of the action

When treating forest plants to control pine beetle, use biological control measures, e.g. waxing, glue-glue treatments. In the case of a mass outbreak of pine beetle, non-biological plant protection products such as DecisĀ® may be used.

Why?

Biological tools do not harm the environment. In most cases, their direct impact on the polluter is less than that of a non-biological defence (so-called poisons), but they are indirectly more beneficial to nature. It is difficult for forest owners to wax forest trees themselves or to treat them with a mixture of glue and sand. This is done in nurseries. The forest owner has to buy treated forest plants.
