Afforestation aims to change land use from non-forest to forest land in a way that ensures the long-term sustainability and productivity of new forests, as well as rapid carbon sequestration and high quality timber.

Description of the action

When afforesting grassland and arable land, prepare the ground, preferably with a shovel.

Why?

Soil preparation: improves soil conditions by mixing the organic and mineral components of the soil, facilitates planting of forest plants, reduces subsequent competition of young trees with grasses, facilitates finding young trees in reforestation maintenance.
