Forests need to be renewed and managed in ways that ensure their long-term sustainability and productivity, as well as rapid carbon sequestration and high quality timber.

Description of the action

In a young forest, the vigour of trees should be 1/2 the height of conifers and 2/3 of the height of broadleaves. If it is shorter or starting to shorten, clear cut.

Why?

For young forests, it is very important to carry out light harvesting at the right time to ensure productivity and faster carbon sequestration.
