Do not break up the soil in the buffer strip of the watercourse at the campsite

Buffer strips will be established and maintained along the banks of natural watercourses to maintain biodiversity and ensure ecological connectivity. The recommended width of the buffer strips is 5 metres on average, with an optimum of 1-10 metres.

Description of the action

Don’t break up the soil or the well-established ridge in the buffer strip of the watercourse and, if possible, don’t use forestry equipment. Use a harvester to cut trees in the buffer strip in such a way that the harvester does not drive into the buffer strip. Leave the understory in the buffer strip uncut before felling.

Why?

In the buffer strip of a water body, it is important not to break up the established chamber, so that no sediment or suspended sediment enters the water body. Technologically, it is possible to cut down trees without having to drive the harvester onto the buffer strip and to concentrate the followed assortments next to the buffer strip, so that the forwarder does not have to drive on the buffer strip.
