Restore bridges, roads, and paths damaged by clear-cutting

Clear-cutting

Based on climate models, precipitation in Estonia is increasing and winter frosts are shortening, making it necessary to build and maintain roads and bridges to adapt to climate change. Roads and bridges ensure timber transport with less damage to the soil, but also provide opportunities for people to move around in nature, harvest forest firewood and put out fires in the countryside.

Description of the action

Repair damaged bridges, roads, and paths within a year after forestry operations.

Why?

During forestry operations, avoid damaging bridges, roads, and paths, but if damage occurs, it should be repaired as soon as possible to ensure accessibility for others. However, repairing damage during wet periods may worsen the situation. The best time for repairs is usually May to late September, during dry conditions.
