Biological techniques and tools should be preferred to prevent forest damage and to control its spread. The use of non-biological plant protection products on forest land is only allowed in justified cases.

Description of the action

Use biological protection methods for pine weevil control, such as waxing or treatment with glue-sand mixtures. In cases of mass pine weevil outbreaks, non-biological plant protection products like Decis® may be used.

Why?

Biological methods do not harm the environment. Their direct impact on pests is usually lower than non-biological pesticides, but they are more beneficial to nature overall. Forest owners may find it difficult to wax or treat forest plants with glue-sand mixtures themselves—this is done in nurseries, and forest owners must acquire treated forest plants.
